IRIS to lead SPIRE-1 Integrated Process Control Project

ICFO partners with CLP Member in Horizon 2020 Project.

September 23, 2014

IRIS, a Barcelona-based technology and solutions provider, also an ICFO CLP member, will coordinate the ProPAT project, funded by the European Commission within the framework of SPIRE-1 Integrated Process Control (Horizon 2020). The research group led by ICREA Professor at ICFO Valerio Pruneri forms part of the 16 member ProPAT consortium, along with high profile industry and academic partners such as GlaxoSmith Klein and the VTT Research Centre of Finland among others.

Over the coming four years, ProPAT (“Robust and affordable process control technologies for improving standards and optimising industrial operations”) will develop novel sensors and analysers for providing measurements on composition, particle size and local bulk properties, as well as other process parameters for online and real-time monitoring during the entire production process. ICFO will lead one of 9 work packages to set up and calibrate the novel scatterometer analyser for real-time and on-line measurements during granulation.

This project is one of the most significant projects within the framework of EU R&D funding for the improvement of production processes.
