ICFOnian wins India’s Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize for Science and Technology 2018

The Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize for Science and Technology (SSB) is a science award in India given annually by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) for notable and outstanding research, applied or fundamental, in biology, chemistry, environmental science, engineering, mathematics, medicine and Physics. The purpose of the prize is to recognize outstanding work of Indian scientists under the age of 45 in science and technology. It is the most coveted award in multidisciplinary science in India.
Out of thirteen winners of the 2018 award across all areas, ICFOnian Dr Aditi Sen De was the only woman to receive the award. Dr Sen De was a postdoctoral researcher in the Quantum Optics Theory group led by ICREA Prof at ICFO Maciej Lewenstein from 2005-2008, and is currently Associate Professors in the Physics Division of Harish-Chandra Research Institute in Allahabad, India. The prize is awarded on the basis of contributions made through work done primarily in India during the five years preceding the year of the prize.
